Dr. Ignacio L. Pita Garcia, M.D.

Ignacio L. Pita Garcia M.D. is a board certified neurologist with subspecialty in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy within the HIMAHEALTH network. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude and completed his residency at the Adults Hospital at the University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Pita Garcia continued his training as an epilepsy fellow at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is currently assistant professor at the University of Puerto Rico Neurology Section.

He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the Puerto Rico College of Physicians, the Puerto Rican Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society.

Dr. Pita Garcia has received numerous awards and accolades. He is the recipient of the Dr. Rámon Arnau Award for excellence in research, the Don Jaime Benítez Faculty Award for overall excellence and the Leadership Award from the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus.

Dr. Pita Garcia has been published on numerous occasions in such journals as Neurology and the International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience. He is preparing his first book about epilepsy syndromes for publication.
