Dr. José R. Cruz M.D., ELD(ABB)

José R. Cruz M.D. is a board-certified gynecologist with subspecialty in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School and completed the OB/GYN residency program at the University District Hospital of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. Dr. Cruz continued his training as a fellow and completed a subspecialty in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the George Washington University Medical Center.

Dr. Cruz is the first and only physician in Puerto Rico board-certified in andrology and embryology, and is also certified as Embryology Laboratory Director (ELD) by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB).

Presently, he works as the Medical Director and Laboratory Director of the HIMA-San Pablo Caguas Fertility Clinic. He is a Professor of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Puerto Rico Medical School

During his fellowship training, Dr. Cruz conducted research in the areas of in-vitro fertilization, blastocyst embryo transfer, oocyte donation, embryo implantation, age factor in reproduction and polycystic ovarian syndrome. His work has been published in recognized scientific journals such as Fertility & Sterility and Reproductive Medicine Update.
